Call all of your utility and service companies in one sitting and let them know when to stop service. Also, give them your new address and tell them to send the last bill there. Go to the post office and put in a change of address at least a couple weeks before moving and let them know the exact date you want them to begin forwarding your mail to that new home. Go to all your doctors, the dentist, the veterinarian, etc. Get copies of your records so you have them with you. Make sure your child's school and teacher knows when their last day will be. They may want to do something special that day for them and they will have all of their belongings gathered and ready to go in time.
Getting prepared for your new home
Make sure you call all utility and service companies and have them turn on services right before you are due to arrive. If you have to be home for some services, such as Internet, then you want to call weeks ahead of time and set the appointment for right after you arrive.
