A Simple Guide For Moving Across The Country

If you are moving across the country to an area where you don't know anyone, then you have quite a bit of work cut out for yourself. You will need to get everything finalized where you live now and get everything set up in your new home without being there in person. You will also have to relocate your family and your belongings. The information here will help break everything down for you, so you may feel a bit less overwhelmed throughout the process:

Taking care of everything in your current home

Call all of your utility and service companies in one sitting and let them know when to stop service. Also, give them your new address and tell them to send the last bill there. Go to the post office and put in a change of address at least a couple weeks before moving and let them know the exact date you want them to begin forwarding your mail to that new home. Go to all your doctors, the dentist, the veterinarian, etc. Get copies of your records so you have them with you. Make sure your child's school and teacher knows when their last day will be. They may want to do something special that day for them and they will have all of their belongings gathered and ready to go in time.

Getting prepared for your new home

Make sure you call all utility and service companies and have them turn on services right before you are due to arrive. If you have to be home for some services, such as Internet, then you want to call weeks ahead of time and set the appointment for right after you arrive. You don't want to get stuck waiting a couple weeks for them to be able to come to you.

Packing your home

The easiest route to go is to have professional movers pack and move your home. However, you may decide you'd like to pack your home yourself. If this is the case, the easiest way to pack is to take pictures of what is in each box, print them and tape them to the side of the box. Also, write in big letters what room that box is from. If it is a very important box you want immediate access to, you can write that on the box as well. You can put a star on it, write "urgent" or whatever else will remind you to unpack it first.

Moving to your new home

Having movers move your items is going to be the easiest way to go. They are used to driving those big trucks and they will make good time. You can simply pull up to your new home and there will be all of your things waiting for you.

Moving your cars

If you plan on taking another mode of transportation to your new home, auto shippers can move your cars for you. If you have more cars than drivers, if you all want to ride together but you have a spare car, or if you need any cars shipped for any other reasons, auto shippers will come to your home, pick up all the cars you need moved, and deliver them right to your new home.

About Me
A Car for Christmas

Ten years ago, I married the only man I’ve ever loved. We met at a mutual friend’s wedding. Ever since I laid eyes on him, I’ve wanted to be near him as much as possible. His bright smile, dark eyes, and friendly personality are just a few of the things I admire about my spouse. For the past several months, he’s been searching for a new car. Because he’s picky, he doesn’t wish to settle for anything but the best vehicle available on the market today. With a little luck, he might be able to buy his dream car for Christmas this year. On this blog, I hope you’ll discover some tools to help you select your next automobile. Enjoy!
